The goal of Saskatoon Internet Exchange Inc. (YXEIX) is to make an exchange which works well for all participants. The following policy has been developed to produce that result.
1) Participants must ensure that their usage of the Internet Exchange is not detrimental to the usage of other Internet Exchange participants.
2) Participants must ensure that their usage is in compliance with applicable Internet standards and Internet exchange standards as published by the IETF. YXEIX reserves the right to specify which standards are applicable.
3) Participants must not use the Internet Exchange for carrying traffic between their own routers.
4) Traffic may only be forwarded from one Internet Exchange participant to another if permission is given by the recipient. There is no Multilateral Peering (MLPA).
5) Use of the route servers requires valid PeeringDB http://peeringdb.com and IRR records. Members without valid PeeringDB and IRR records may have their routes filtered. Filtering routes protects members from inappropriate route announcements. PeeringDB records also provide a way for prospective members to analyze the value of joining the YXEIX.
1) The Saskatoon Internet Exchange (YXEIX) provides connectivity to its infrastructure using switched, shared Ethernet LANs. All physical interfaces connected to the Saskatoon Internet Exchange infrastructure must be explicitly configured with duplex and speed settings, and must not be configured to use Ethernet auto-negotiation.
2) YXEIX reserves the right to charge port fees on a per-connection basis to ensure the exchange infrastructure can be maintained.
3) YXEIX reserves the right to disconnect any port which violates any provision of this agreement without notice.
1) Each Participant must have their own Autonomous System number (AS).
2) Unicast peering between participants' routers across Saskatoon Internet Exchange will be via BGP (version 4) and peers must set NEXT_HOP_SELF if advertising routes from other participants.
3) Participants shall not generate unnecessary route flap, or advertise unnecessarily specific routes in peering sessions with participants across the Saskatoon Internet Exchange.
4) Participants may not use another participant's resources without permission.
5) Broadcast and multicast traffic may be not delivered to the exchange, except as needed for normal operation.
6) Participants will peer with the Route Viewer or other designated YXEIX collection device (the viewer will not advertise any routes, and the routes received will only be used for data collection, reporting and monitoring).
7) Participants may only utilize a single layer-2 MAC address to place a single layer-3 router per port allocated from the switch fabric unless by prior agreement.
1) Participants have a duty of confidentiality to the Saskatoon Internet Exchange and other Saskatoon Internet Exchange participants. In particular, Participants must not install packet sniffers to monitor traffic passing through the Saskatoon Internet Exchange.
2) Participants may not connect equipment to or otherwise provide connectivity to the Saskatoon Internet Exchange switch infrastructure on behalf of non-participants.
1) Participants must not carry out any illegal activities through the exchange. All traffic transiting the exchange is subject to Canadian Law.
